I guess there’s money in widgets after all. With Apple‘s release of Dashboard, and now the Yahoo! acquisition of Konfabulator, widgets seem poised to take on a new life.
Obviously Konfabulator isn’t new (even the concept of desktop accessories dates back quite a bit), but being pulled into the Yahoo! brand is huge. The geeks (which means you, if you’re reading this) already knew about widgets; But I’m guessing that the average My Yahoo! user hasn’t considered these little gems of cpu sucking eye candy. But they’re about to. Apple’s done a great job making widgets seem sexy, and Konfabulator’s widgets look just as sharp… and run cross-platform. I guess it’s just a matter of time until you can add widgets to your My Yahoo portal.
